well i finally did it, i pulled out the canning supplies that have been down in the food storage room forever, and decided to make some salsa. My husband decided to help me in the process of which i was very thankful, he did all the grinding of the tomato's, jalapeƱo peppers, green peppers, onions- we both had watery eyes and could barely see what we were doing. Then he decided that he wanted to make horseradish so he also ground up some horse radish and boy did that ever make our house smell . He also ground up some green tomato's because we have a lot of these in our basement that are trying to get ripe. We made (yes dear you made this and the horseradish) green tomato freezer jam yes jam can you believe that out of green tomato's? You put raspberry jello in it and it tastes just like raspberry jam. I have pictures of our out come starting from left to right is the horseradish, the the salsa, the green tomato jam, and then few weeks ago i made apricot freezer jam so i had to show that to. the other night on TV they were telling us how to make buttermilk pancake mix a pancake mix that you can keep on hand and make when ever you want so we had to make that as well. I also have a picture of the mix in the bowl and then you have to add in buttermilk, 2 eggs, and butter. they turned out really good i thought. so tomorrow morning we get to have buttermilk pancakes with green tomato jelly on them. sounds pretty yucky doesn't it.

Way to go Susie Crocker! I'm impressed. It must be something in the air this year. I have also done a little canning year after several years of neglecting it. I had to crawl under the house to find my jars it had been so long! FYI, I do work at a school. I'm a secretary at White Pine Middle School in the north of Richmond. I work from 9:30 to 2:30. Pretty much a perfect schedule!
Everyone is canning this year. Must be the economy. I've never had tomato jam but I bet it's delicious (and a good way to get rid of your green tomatoes). Oh, and my house still smells like a Mexican restaurant from the last batch of salsa I made.
Well don't I feel dumb! Canning is one thing I don't do! I am very impressed Tammy! I am not that ambitious! Good job! Guess you'll need to let me do some taste testing on that salsa!
